International Volunteering In Senegal
Go on a mission to Senegal with Sens Solidaires!
You will participate in biodiversity protection activities in collaboration with the NGO AGADA (Agir Autrement pour le Développement en Afrique), our partner NGO in Ziguinchor, with whom we carry out school correspondence projects and education for sustainable development, in particular O.D.D. 12 “Production, responsible consumption” : activity report 2019-21
In addition, many projects have been initiated to participate in the emancipation and inclusion of women and girls in Casamance.
These include market gardening, rice farming, and fish farming, all of which help enormously to reduce food insecurity in this area. We participate in the project : ISCOS with the IUCN partnership on biodiversity protection
We are looking for short term volunteers or long term civic services to participate in the project activities in the field
The experience
We do not require specific skills to go on our missions, but rather a commitment from the volunteer to want to help on our projects and return with knowledge. The activities to which the volunteers will dedicate their time are
– The reforestation of the surrounding mangrove. This is done mainly during the rainy season, from June to October, under the supervision of our local partner AGADA, who has a lot of knowledge in this field.
– Support for the school exchange program.
– Support for the vegetable garden project in the colleges.
– Helping women in the organic market garden where women make products from vegetables and fruits.
– Support to the installation of the Mirador on the Pointe Saint Georges for the observation of the Lamentins.
– Contribution to the construction of a dyke on the island of Effrane to slow down the erosion of the coastline.
– The census of the surrounding species.
